A Private Invitation
Sotto Voce
Come and receive the evening of the eclipse.
Ninety minutes of harmonious sound transmission.

I Would Love For You
To Be In the Room
If this invitation reached you, I trust there is a reason. This is a night for clearing what the last season asked you to carry, and for meeting the next one with a quieter body. An activation, and a sound transmission, given to special guests at the turn of a season.
You already know what happens in this room. You know the hour after the last bowl goes quiet, when the world outside is exactly as you left it and something in you has moved anyway.
This evening is my gift. There is nothing to pay and nothing to arrange. The exchange is your presence, given fully, for ninety minutes.
Sotto Voce surfaces once or twice a year, by invitation, and never appears on the calendar. Every other evening I hold carries its own exchange. This one is mine to give.
There is space held for you here,
~ Henrietta
The Name
What Sotto
Voce Means
Sotto voce is an Italian phrase meaning under the voice. It asks a singer or a player to sound so softly that only the people nearby can hear. Musicians use it to keep something between the people in the room and to place emphasis on a secret, because attention leans in toward a sound it has to reach for.
That is what happens here. The bowls are played under the voice, beneath the register where you listen on purpose, and your attention travels toward them rather than holding them at arm's length.
Nearly everyone arrives in tension. Sotto voce is the instruction that opens the way into resonance, the tone made whole, and it is why this evening carries the name.
The Transmission
Why This Night
I have had this date marked for a while, waiting to know what it was for.
On August 12 the new moon moves directly in front of the sun and holds there. It is the first total eclipse mainland Europe has seen in twenty-seven years, and the shadow takes an extraordinary road to reach it. The path begins in Siberia, arcs up and over the North Pole, then drops down through Greenland and Iceland, across the Atlantic, and into northern Spain just before sunset. A strip of the planet a hundred and eighty miles wide goes dark in the middle of the day, for two minutes and eighteen seconds at its longest.
Vancouver sits well outside that path and the shadow never touches us here. The energetic alignment reaches us anyway.
It happens at twenty degrees of Leo, the sign that governs the heart and everything in us that wants to be seen. For those two minutes the light we perform by is taken away completely. Nothing to be seen by. Nothing to hold up. Then it returns, and the season on the far side of it is not the one you woke into that morning.
By the time we gather, the sky has finished its work. The body has not. That is the hour I want you in the room.
On an ordinary Wednesday the bowls return you to your natural state. On this night they do that while the field is still moving, and the last season leaves the body rather than the mind. That is the difference, and it is the whole reason for the date. It is also the part I cannot arrange for you again until the sky offers it.
Nothing is added to you here. You arrive whole. Alchemy Crystal Tone singing bowls of over 99.99% pure quartz, fused with precious gemstones, metals and minerals, meet the crystalline structures already in you and remind them what they sound like when nothing is being asked of them. The room becomes a portal. You are carried, the transmission lands, and the integration keeps working long after you have gone home.
You may arrive knowing none of this.
The cosmos have already chosen the path. There is reason to listen.
